RE: UK: Dairy firms launch green benchmarking scheme

My company carries out 'deep cleans' of distribution centres. In chilled and frozen areas we focuss on the thorough cleaning of evaporators/coolers. Recently we have made a practice of taking air-flow readings before and after the cleans. This indicates an increase in efficiency of typically 50 - 75%. The energy costs of maintaining temperature is substantial and the costs of cleaning pales into insignificance when compared to the savings in energy costs. This is just one way of reducing your carbon footprint that costs nothing. Good door disciplin and inteligent use of acknowledged refrigeration good practice will save even moreWink
