INSIGHT: Premium own label, organics on the rise - Tesco
Tesco chief executive Sir Terry Leahy today (6 October) revealed that the company's sales of organic food and its upmarket own-label Finest range were outpacing the rest of the business in the UK.

Et voila! All those who said that the current recession was the end of 'premium' clearly made an error of judgement. All it was was the end of flogging stuff at any old price. The recession has simply sharpened consumers' criteria of value for money... and value can be upscale as long as it bears a healthy relationship to the money being asked.
JK of JS has understood this... and has been generally ahead of TL of Tesco in most things, as these results and TNS market data tend to indicate...
