RE: INSIGHT: Carrefour Russia exit “makes strategic sense” - analyst

The Russian food retail market is still incredibly fragmented and unstable. The risks are still high even for the Top 5 players and consolidation has a long way to go. If Lars Olofsson has decided to focus priorities upon other parts of the world until the 'gold dust' settles, then that looks reasonable and sensible to me. Carrefour is big enough to do a big acquisition further down the round. Russia is probably a market where being a first mover is not necessarily a big advantage.
