US: Unilever to "phase out" Smart Choices labels
Food giant Unilever is to "phase out" its use of the Smart Choices Program, the food labelling scheme under fire in the US.

This really looked to be the strongest labelling programme in the US. There are a number of different systems in use here but, given that some of the bigger players had signed up, I'd assumed the science and the labels were robust. This news is going to do nothing for consumer confidence in labels and only strengthen the Govt's resolve to regulate.
