Diamond Foods has pounced for Pringles, the snacks brand owned by consumer goods giant Procter & Gamble. Pringles joins a Diamond portfolio already including Kettle Chips, which the US firm snapped up last year.

Every now and then, a deal is done that significantly alters the direction of a business. Diamond Foods' agreement to buy the Pringles brand looks set to do just that, tripling the size of the US firm's snacks business and boosting the company's exposure to overseas markets. Dean Best reports.

Diamond Foods, which today (5 April) agreed to buy global snacks business Pringles, said it plans to leverage the brand's distribution channels to extend the reach of its other products, such as Kettle Chips and Pop Secret.
