UK-based communications and risk management consultancy, Razor, has signed up this month to an exclusive and unique partnership with leading global insurance provider, XL Insurance Company Limited, to offer versatile crisis management support packages to food and drink businesses purchasing the XL Insurance food contamination insurance.
Under the XL Insurance product contamination cover - which covers product recalls - Razor’s Oxfordshire-based team will offer not only recall advice during crisis situations, but also a range of auditing, training and risk management tools to food and drink organisations right across Europe and beyond. They will focus on product safety and product contamination risks across the risk management spectrum, where appropriate.
The agreement builds on Razor’s growing reputation in this service area and could apply to its current client base, where required, as well as to XL Insurance clients who will automatically receive a package of support from Razor, with elements covered by the XL Insurance premium.
Razor Managing Director, Chris Woodcock, says: “Razor offers a range of preparation and training services, from an initial consultation to a review of product recall plans, and from risk assessment workshops to product recall simulations for XL Insurance clients. An initial consultation is covered by the premium and, depending on the XL Insurance policy, further services may also be covered.
“This is a very exciting development for us and more evidence of how diverse and innovative the world of risk communications, brand protection and crisis management has become. There is also clearly a huge demand for practical and realistically-budgeted support.”
Ed Mitchell, XL Insurance Senior Underwriter for Product Recall, adds: “The food and drink industry is faced with increasing regulatory scrutiny as well as public interest in food safety, and companies are as much concerned about protecting their brand and reputation as the financial impact of a product recall.
“We recognise the need to pre-empt and manage the product-related risk especially product recall. The issues are hugely diverse - from allergen labelling and food safety best practice to malicious contamination.
“We felt that Razor, through their own expertise and their technical and scientific resources, are ideally placed to work with us and we’re excited about the prospects for our clients and theirs.”
The new product will be introduced to key brokers this month.
