Halfway into the year, egg farms in the state of Jalisco suffered an avian flu outbreak. The outbreak directly affected 15% of Mexico’s egg production. Although the outbreak primarily affected farms in the Jalisco municipalities of Tepatitlán, Acatic and San Juan de los Lagos, egg-producing farms in other areas also slaughtered some of their birds.
