UK: 2 Sisters plans more job cuts at RF Brookes site

By Dean Best | 24 July 2012

UK food manufacturer 2 Sisters Food Group is planning to cut more jobs at its RF Brookes plant in Leicestershire.

The company confirmed up to 350 employees could lose their jobs as part of fresh production changes across its network.

2 Sisters said in May it had put forward plans to make 193 staff redundant at the facility.

However, strikes at the plant had forced the company to move production of pizza toppings to another site to ensure the affected facility could contain to supply customers, it said today. The company has now decided to make the change permanent.

"As a result, and reflecting our need to be able to have continuous production, we have regrettably proposed an additional number of redundancies at Leicester. We have briefed our employees on this move and will continue to work with employee representatives and unions," 2 Sisters told just-food.

The additional proposed cuts will not lead to an extension of the consultation period 2 Sisters started when it announced its initial plans to make 193 staff redundant.

The company took on the plant when it acquired own-label firm Brookes Avana from Premier Foods plc last year.

Sectors: Chilled foods, Private label

Companies: 2 Sisters Food Group, Premier Foods plc
