Swedish vegetable fats group AarhusKarlshamn has appointed Arne Frank to the position of president and CEO.

Frank is currently chairman of ophthalmic business Carl Zeiss Vision and, until recently, he also served as chief executive at the group.

Previously, Frank was also CEO of buildings business TAC - and the division of the Schneider Group that TAC became following its acquisition by the French electrical distribution group.

"For some time we have been looking for the person who can take over the baton after Jerker Hartwall and bring AAK to new successes and strengthen the company's position as the world's leading supplier of specialty fats," chairman Melker Schörling said.

"Arne Frank has successfully developed companies to reach strong market positions with high profitability in the international arena, and we are convinced that he is the right person to take over the management of AAK."

Commenting on his appointment, Frank said that it was a "privilege" to take the helm at such an "exciting company".

Frank will join AAK in the next spring
