UK: Aldi in meat pie recall

By: just-food.com | 1 October 2008

Discount retailer Aldi UK has recalled four varieties of its own-brand chilled meat pies.

The recall is a result of incorrect use-by dates, which state 30 October 2008 instead of the correct date of 30 September 2008, the company said yesterday (30 September).

The Crestwood (Aldi brand) products being recalled are Chicken & Leek Pie, 800g with barcode 25073874; Chicken Pie, 800g with barcode 25067156; Steak & Mushroom Pie, 800g with barcode 25073898; and Steak & Onion Pie, 800g with barcode 25068979.

No other Aldi products are known to be affected.

Aldi has recalled the affected batch and placed recall notices in the national press today (1 October) urging anyone who has bought the product to return it for a refund.
