UK retailer Asda has appointed Simon Eyles as head of brand marketing with effect from next month.

Eyles joins Asda from McCain Foods where he held the position of marketing director for eight years.

McCain said it is looking for an external candidate to replace Eyles. "In the interim, Sue Jefferson, prepared foods business unit director, will oversee the marketing activities alongside her current role," a spokesperson said.

"We wish Simon all the best for the future and we will make an announcement as soon as a new marketing director has been identified."
