Asda to streamline management

Asda, the UK arm of Wal-Mart, has said it is streamlining the management structure in some of its stores.

A spokesperson for the company told just-food the group is proposing the elimination of certain management roles in 32 of its 564 stores.

"We want to continuously improve the service we offer our customers. To do this we are proposing a simplified management structure in 32 of 564 stores. This means some of the management roles in our stores will change," the spokesperson said.

The group has begun employee consultations and "no decision" will be made until this process is complete, the spokesperson added.

"Our intention is that we will redeploy these colleagues into existing roles, minimising job losses."
