US: Cadbury exec takes B&G Foods role
By: just-food.com | 11 August 2009
Former Cadbury supply chain executive William Herbes has joined US food maker B&G Foods.
Herbes, who most recently served as senior vice president, global supply chain at Cadbury Schweppes, has joined B&G as executive vice president of operations.
President and CEO David Wenner said: "Bill's priorities include reducing cost in manufacturing, streamlining our logistical systems and reducing working capital needs."
Herbes is also set to take on the job of B&G's executive vice president of manufacturing when James Brown steps down from the role next year.
Meanwhile, Scott Lerner, B&G's general counsel and secretary has taken on the new role of chief compliance officer.
Last month, B&G, the maker of Cream of Wheat hot cereal, posted an increase in net income for the first two quarters of 2009.
For the 26 weeks to 4 July, net income before adjustments reached US$11.9m compared to $7.9m in the comparable period of 2008.
Net sales for the period increased 2.6% to reach $241.5m. The result was negatively impacted by a poor maple syrup crop in Canada in 2008 that led to a global shortage.
Sectors: Baby food, Bakery, Chilled foods, Confectionery, Snacks
Companies: Cadbury
