RUSSIA: Carrefour opens office in Moscow

French supermarket group Carrefour has confirmed reports that it has opened an office in Moscow.
 
A Carrefour spokesperson also confirmed to just-food that the Moscow office had been opened in preparation for its entry into the Russian market, scheduled for next year.
 
The company is to open its first outlet in Moscow, in the second quarter of 2008.

In May this year, the retail giant confirmed on these pages that it was planning to enter the Russian market next year.

"We are going to enter the Russian market in the first half of 2008," a spokesperson for the group said. "We see great potential for future expansion in Russia."
