CHINA: China needs to improve food quality and safety - ag minister
Agricultural minister Du Qinglin has announced publicly that China needs to draft an improved system for defining, implementing and monitoring food quality and safety standards. Speaking at a national conference on the food processing industry, Du said the move to bring Chinese standards in line with international rules is essential as the country seeks export markets for its agricultural produce: "Quality and safety are the passport for our country's farm products to enter the international market."
