US: Dean Foods appoints Horizon boss
Dean Foods has appointed Blaine E. McPeak to the company's WhiteWaves division as president of Horizon Organic.
Previously, McPeak worked with Kellogg's, holding various positions including president of its US$1bn Wholesome Portable Breakfast and Snacks division, president of its Frozen Foods business and general manager of Kashi. Prior to that, he held leadership positions at Sara Lee.
McPeak will assume responsibility for all functions, including marketing, research and development, operations, sales and international growth of the company's Horizon Organic business. Dean foods said this would include expanding the company's Rachel's Organic brand. He will report to Joseph Scalzo, president and CEO of WhiteWave Foods.
"We look forward to Blaine's contributions to WhiteWave," said Gregg Engles, chairman and CEO of Dean Foods. "Blaine's ability to lead organisations through evolution and growth helped him deliver strong results throughout his career." Added Engles: "While building and growing the Kashi business, Blaine developed a keen understanding of the natural and organic community. With this experience he will have a strong impact on Horizon Organic."
