US: Fieldale Farms chief to lead chicken lobbyists

The US National Chicken Council has appointed the president of Fieldale Farms, Thomas Hensley Jr, as its chairman.

Bernard Leonard, group vice president of food service for Tyson Foods has also been employed by the company, as vice chairman, while Lampkin Butts, president of Sanderson Farms, has become secretary-treasurer.
 
The new officers were appointed during the NCC Annual Conference held in Washington DC, and attended by members of the industry from across the US. Officers serve one-year terms, the council said yesterday (1 October).
 
Hensley moved up to chairman from vice chairman of the council. He has worked for Fieldale Farms for 33 years, becoming president in 2008.
 
Leonard joined Tyson in 1998 as vice president of broiler sales and operations. He became head of food service in November 2006. 

Butts joined Sanderson in 1973. He became president and COO in 2004.
