UK: Finsbury extends Thorntons cake range

Finsbury Foods' Lightbody cake business has extended its range of Thorntons branded products with the launch of four varieties in the UK.

The new variants are Toffee and Chocolate Marbled Cake, Mini Chocolate Fudge Brownies, Mini Chocolate and Orange Cakes and Mini Toffee Cupcakes.

Announcing the launch, Finsbury highlighted the power of the Thorntons brand.

"Our brand is incredibly powerful - it's viewed by consumers as a great driver towards the cake fixture," Jo Fraser, commercial controller for the Finsbury Food Group, said.

"They already buy - and love - Thorntons chocolate and Thorntons cakes and would be happy to buy a Thorntons branded cake in a way that they wouldn't be with other less exclusive brands,"

Finsbury was unavailable for further comment as just-food went to press.
