HUNGARY: Fish producers group aims to double fish consumption in Hungary
The Hungarian Association of Fish Producers is to spend between 45m and 60m forints (US$212,000-282,000) on the promotion of fish consumption in the country in 2003, compared with spending of 30m forints last year. One of the association's main aims is to increase fish consumption from a current average of 3.2kg per person per year to between 6kg and 7kg per person per year. In 1998 the level of fish consumption in the country was 2.7kg per person per year.
