US bakeries group Flowers Foods has announced two senior management appointments.

Flowers Foods has promoted Mary Kay Razminas to the newly created position of vice president, business analysis and insight.

The maker of Nature's Own, Whitewheat, Cobblestone Mill, and Blue Bird brands has also promoted Jerry F Hancock II to the post of vice president for environmental and regulatory affairs.

Razminas will play a pivotal role in the development of category management strategy, reporting to David M Roach, vice president of sales and marketing.

"Mary Kay has done an exceptional job for Flowers since joining our company in 1999 and was instrumental in implementing our data warehouse and decision support solutions," Roach said. "With her experience in project management, analytical insight, and information technology, I know she will further enhance our expertise in category management."

Before joining the company, Razminas spent more than ten years at Frito Lay.

Hancock will oversee environmental and safety issues, as well as Flowers' sustainability and energy management programs and matters related to closed plant and idle assets.

"Jerry has more than 15 years' experience with the company in environmental and regulatory issues and has done an outstanding job keeping our company on the leading edge of environmental issues," said Michael A. Beaty, Flowers' senior vice president of supply chain. "This promotion recognises his leadership in this area, not just at Flowers but within the baking industry."

Hancock joined Flowers in 1988 as a project engineer. He was named environmental projects manager in 1991, manager of environmental affairs in 1993, and director of environmental and regulatory affairs in 2001.

Hancock is co-chair of the American Bakers Association's energy and environmental committee.
