USA: Flowers posts Q2 loss on sale of Mrs. Smith's

US wholesale baker Flowers Foods posted a loss of US$9.34m for its second quarter ended 12 July, in contrast with a profit of $6.05m in the year-ago period. A 6% rise in sales was offset by a loss booked on the sale of its frozen foods division Mrs. Smith to Schwan Food for $240m, the company said.
