Fonterra, the world's largest dairy cooperative, has appointed Kelvin Wickham to the position of managing director, Fonterra GlobalTrade. He replaces John Shaskey, who is leaving the company at the end of June.

Wickham's career in the dairy industry spans 18-years, including ten-years spent in Europe and South East Asia. He is currently Fonterra's director sales and operations planning.

Announcing the appointment, Fonterra CEO, Andrew Ferrier, said Wickham would bring sales and management experience to his new role.

"Our ability to make an internal appointment reflects the depth of experience and knowledge we have in the business at senior levels. Kelvin knows the industry from the ground up and in the course of his career has had wide exposure across the world to our markets, customers, products and their applications. He is a very welcome addition to our leadership team."

The co-operative has also announced that the role of its director group manufacturing, Gary Romano, will be expanded to include responsibilities for Fonterra's supply chain. His new title will be director group manufacturing and supply chain.
