Food.com, the Internet's food and dining destination, today announced it has launched a new version of its website to expand the features offered to consumers and the functionality of the website. New additions to Food.com include daily publishing of national and local food-related content by the company's in-house editorial department, new and regular editorial features within the site, and an enhanced and searchable national Food.com Dining Guide with over 400,000 restaurant listings. The company also announced that the site would be divided into four distinct categories including online restaurant meal takeout and delivery, food-related editorial, dining guide and shopping. These categories will be represented by five (5) tabs listed across all pages of the website. They are: 1) Online Ordering, 2) Cooking & Entertaining, (editorial) 3) News and Features, (editorial) 4) Dining Guide Search, and 5) Marketplace.

"This latest version of our site brings us even closer to our vision of the ultimate Food network. With transactions, media, an aggregated base of 16,000 interactive restaurants, and other food and dining-related services, our reach into this segment has become even more widespread," said Food.com Chairman and CEO Rich Frank. "We've listened closely to our members and to consumers as a whole and this is what they want to see - one place that they can go for anything and everything related to food and dining."

Online Ordering of Restaurant Takeout and Delivery

Food.com's original service, the patented online restaurant meal takeout and delivery service will also be upgraded, according to company officials. With the implementation of an "Auto Login" for Food.com members, consumers will be able to move directly to their "My Food.com" page for quick and easy ordering. Food.com's stable of order-enabled restaurants nationwide continues to grow with 16,000 restaurants currently part of the Food.com network.

Dining Guide

The new Food.com Dining Guide includes over 400,000 restaurants nationwide. Visitors to Food.com will be able to search this up-to-date database of restaurants by city and state, cuisine, restaurant name, user-submitted restaurant ratings, online ordering availability, and proximity to a user's address down to 1/8th of a mile. Food.com visitors are able to rate Dining Guide restaurants on a scale of 1-5 for food quality, service, and ambiance. Food.com will also provide maps and directions for all Dining Guide restaurants. Company officials explained that Food.com would continue to add information about restaurants, soon allowing consumers to search by menu items, reservations information, keywords, hours of operation, and entertainment options and amenities.
