Royal FrieslandCampina has announced new appointments
Schumacher, who will take up the role from September, was previously president of Heinz's business in Asia Pacific. He has also worked at Ahold and Unilever.
Schumacher replaces Kees Gielen, who served as CFO since 2009 when FrieslandCampina was formed after the merger of Friesland Foods and Campina. Gielen will take up the role of chief operating officer, business development. His role will see him take responsibility for expanding operations in Asia and Africa in particular.
Appointments at Royal
The composition of the Executive Board of Royal FrieslandCampina N.V. will change with effect from 1 January 2015. Kees Gielen, currently Chief Financial Officer, has been appointed Chief Operating Officer Business Development.
Hein Schumacher will succeed Kees Gielen as Chief Financial Officer as from 1 January 2015. Bas van den Berg, currently Managing Director of operating company, Branded Netherlands/Belgium, has been appointed Executive Director of the business group Cheese, Butter & Milkpowder.
In a new role as Chief Operating Officer Business Development on the Executive Board, Kees Gielen will be responsible for expanding operations in Asia and Africa in particular.
The Mergers & Acquisitions department will report to him. Kees Gielen has served as Chief Financial Officer since the merger between Friesland Foods and Campina in 2009.
Hein Schumacher will join FrieslandCampina on 1 September 2014. He will be appointed to the Executive Board in the position of Chief Financial Officer as from 1 January 2015.
Hein Schumacher spent 11 years at HJ Heinz, most recently as Executive Vice-President & Zone President of Heinz Asia Pacific and a member of the Executive Board of HJ Heinz. Before that, he held various financial and business senior management positions in the Netherlands, the United States, the United Kingdom and China. Before joining Heinz, Hein worked at Ahold and Unilever.
Bas van den Berg
Bas van den Berg has been appointed Executive Director of the business group Cheese, Butter & Milkpowder as from 1 January 2015. Bas van den Berg currently serves as Managing Director of operating company Branded Netherlands/Belgium. His previous role was that of Managing Director of operating company Dutch Lady Malaysia. Bas van den Berg will succeed Piet Hilarides, who, as previously announced, has been appointed Chief Operating Officer of the business group Consumer Products Asia as from 1 January 2015.
