Hillshire Brands appoints VP of strategy

Hillshire Brands has announced that Brian Davison has joined the company from Kraft Foods as VP of corporate strategy and development.

Hillshire, formerly the North American meat business of Sara Lee, said Davison began his role on 2 January. He was previously VP of strategic planning at Kraft.

At Hillshire, Davison will be responsible for acquisition, merger and divestiture activities, strategic planning and implementing high impact projects, the firm said. One of his main tasks will be to help implement Hillshire's three-year strategic plan for profitable growth, published in September last year.

"Brian has deep food industry and consumer knowledge that he uses to create high impact strategic and operational plans,” said Hillshire's CEO, Sean Connolly.

Last month, Hillshire announced it had agreed to sell its Australia and New Zealand bakery business, Kitchens of Sara Lee, to McCain Foods.
