Egyptian juice-to-dairy group Juhayna Food Industries plans to improve its dairy processing capabilities and routes to market in order to meet the "growing needs" of local consumers.

The company revealed today (10 December) it will expand its dairy and juice production facilities, upgrade its supply and distribution network and introduce new products into the Egyptian market.

Juhayna has secured an EGP500m (US$72.6m) loan from the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development. Juhayna chairman Safwan Thabet said the group hoped to benefit from the bank's "technical expertise" in "social and environmental development", in securing alternative energy, as well as in dairy farm and agricultural development.
