This week, Tesco CFO Laurie McIlwee ended weeks of speculation over his future after handing in his resignation. Elsewhere, Kellogg was one of the three manufacturers linked to the rumoured sale of Dorset Cereals and Arla announced a proposed merger with EGM Walhorn.
"I wish Philip and the team well and I am absolutely confident that Tesco will emerge from the current period of unprecedented change in the industry stronger than ever," -Tesco CFO Laurie McIlwee announces his resignation after widespread speculation.
"As part of our strategy, we are always looking for strategic acquisitions or joint ventures that can strengthen our business" - Kellogg refused to be drawn on speculation it is eyeing UK business Dorset Cereals.

"There's a real demand for British honey - British products in general. I think it's to do with the royal wedding and the Olympics" - Hilltop Honey founder Scott Davies says globally British products are more sought after.

"What we really require [to stimulate category growth] is an explosive message, a big fan fair arrival.... They are well-placed in a sense that they have the brand awareness, the marketing budget" - Mintel's Alex Beckett shares his thoughts on Ben & Jerry's foray into the Greek 'fro-yo' market.
"We believe that B&G Foods will be able to enhance the growth prospects of these brands" - David Wenner, president and CEO of B&G Foods, says the US food group will be able to drive growth from brands it plans to acquire through its purchase of margarine-to-soup manufacturer Specialty Brands of America from private-equity firm American Capital.
