Kavli said shoppers looking for lower-fat products

Kavli, the company behind Primula, is to target calorie conscious consumers this spring with the launch of two reduced fat products for its flagship brand.

Primula Cheese Light will add to the already existing light range which includes; original cheese, cheese and ham, cheese and chive, cheese and prawn and smokey cheese.

Primula Deli Soft Cheese Light is part of the recently launched ‘Deli’ range and will sit alongside the three existing flavours; soft cheese, soft cheese with cracked black pepper and soft cheese with smoked salmon.

Craig Brooks, marketing director at Kavli said: “Consumers are bombarded with healthy eating messages in the media and rather than reduce or give up some of their favourite foods, many would prefer to substitute with a lower fat alternative, as long as it tastes as good.”

Primula Cheese Light is suitable for vegetarians and gluten free, with a 40% reduction in saturated fats compared to original Primula Cheese.

Primula Deli Soft Cheese Light has 35% less fat than original range.

The new products will be available in UK supermarkets next month. Primula Light cheese spread and Primula Light Deli Soft Cheese will have RRP’s of GBP1.18 (US$) and GBP1.28 respectively.
