Kraft Foods North America, the largest branded food company in North America, announced yesterday that Eric Leininger, 46, has been appointed Senior Vice President, Marketing Services. He will be a member of Kraft's Operating Committee and report to Paula Sneed, Group Vice President, Kraft Foods, and President, e-Commerce and Marketing Services. Leininger succeeds Lance Friedmann, who was recently appointed Executive Vice President, Kraft Foods, and Area Director, Mexico & Puerto Rico.

In his new position, Leininger, formerly Vice President, Consumer Insight & Strategy, will be responsible for directing the company's Marketing Services organization, including advertising services, media services, corporate and consumer promotions, ethnic marketing, Kraft Kitchens, marketing information, packaging communications, creative services and all corporate marketing programs.

"Eric has exceptional insight into the needs of consumers, how Kraft can meet those needs, and how we can most effectively communicate the benefits of our brands and services. His insight, together with his strong leadership skills, makes him an excellent choice to head Kraft's Marketing Services organization," said Sneed.

Leininger joined Kraft in 1993 and has held a variety of marketing services and sales research positions, including Director of Sales Information. He was named Vice President, Consumer Insight & Strategy, overseeing the company's marketing information function in 1997. Prior to his career at Kraft, Leininger was with Nielsen Marketing Research as Vice President of Information Systems, and Quaker Oats Company as research director. He has an M.B.A. degree in marketing from the University of Michigan.

Kraft Foods, headquartered in Northfield, IL, is the North American food business of Philip Morris Companies Inc.
