US: Lance CEO Singer to take Flowers board role
By: just-food.com | 20 November 2009
David Singer, the president and CEO of US snack maker Lance, is to take on a director's role at bakery giant Flowers Foods.
News of the appointment came as Flowers said its chief marketing officer Allen Shiver would become the group's president.
Singer, a former CFO of Coke bottler Coca-Cola Bottling Co. Consolidated, will join the Flowers board in January.
"His broad business experience with companies that have similar market-delivery systems to ours will enhance the composition of our board," said George Deese, Flowers chairman, CEO - and current president - today (20 November).
Shiver will replace Deese as president in January. Flowers said Shiver will play more of a role in growing the business strategically.
Deese, who will stay on as chairman and CEO, added: "Allen will join me in leading the team to further enhance the operating strategies that will continue to create shareholder value over the long term."
