The move is part of Marfrig's strategy to diversify its offering of protein-based products and will add free-range duck and chicken products in its new Seara division, which has activities in chicken, pork and processed foods, the company said.

A spokesperson for the company said that the acquisition would also include the Nhô Bento chicken brand and Germania duck brand.
