CHINA: Meat firm DaChan to "double production"

DaChan Food (Asia) has reportedly said it will double its production capacity by the end of next year in order to capitalise on growing demand.

The group, which supplies chicken meat to the likes of McDonald's and KFC, said that last year's short supply of pigs on the mainland and rising concern over food safety have brought growing opportunities for the quality broiler industry, the South China Morning Post reported.

Chief financial officer Jack Chang Chin-pyng said the company would invest US$75.3m this year to increase capacity.
