SPAIN: Meats firm Frial pinning hopes on functional line
By Ivan Castano | 23 July 2007
Spanish processed meats company Grupo Frial expects strong local and international demand to drive sales above last year's EUR14m (US$19.3m), a company insider has told just-food.
The launch of a functional meats line, FrialVida, is said to be the main factor behind the rise in sales. The range supplies packaged turkey breast, jam, sausages and beef containing omega 3 and other functional ingredients, the insider said.
The product has been selling "very strongly" at home and abroad where Frial exports to markets in Greece, Portugal, France and Italy. The company is also looking to introduce FrialVida in Japan and the US, the insider added.
Frial is also considering investing EUR9m to expand production at its Salamanca factory while closing its Tres Cantos site in Madrid.
