US: Meijer introduces Grocery Express
By: just-food.com | 11 September 2008
Michigan-based supermarket chain Meijer has launched a trial Grocery Express service at one of its stores.
The new service allows consumers to order their groceries online and have them delivered to a collection point in the supermarket's car park.
The charge for an individual order is US$6.95, or customers can pay a $24.95 monthly subscription for unlimited orders.
"Grocery Express is another example of the ways in which we're looking to accommodate our busy shoppers," said Rob Fleener, vice president of marketing and e-commerce at Meijer. "People can shop online and three hours later they can pull up to the store and receive their order hand-delivered by a personal shopper. It's a great convenience for customers."
