USA: New hue for Heinz ketchup coming soon
Launched last year, the success of Heinz' EZ Squirt Blastin' Green coloured ketchup has prompted the company to develop another coloured ketchup. So far however, Heinz is reticent to reveal exactly what colour consumers can expect to find, but promises that it will either be orange, purple, hot pink or yellow. The product will hit supermarket shelves by the end of August.
"With the success of Heinz EZ Squirt Blastin' Green, kids were telling us loud and clear, 'This is great! What's next?' And when kids tell us something, we listen," said Casey Keller, managing director for Ketchup, Condiments and Sauces at Heinz North America.
During the first seven months of production, more than ten million bottles of the green condiment were sold in the US alone. The innovation was credited with boosting Heinz' share of the ketchup market and the ketchup sales overall, and distribution is now expanding outside the US.
