BRAZIL: Parmalat local unit to go private

Brazilian investment fund Laep has announced plans to buy back all outstanding shares and take milk producer Parmalat Brasil private.

Leap acquired control of Parmalat Brasil in 2006, as part of the restructuring process following the Italian dairy group's 2003 financial collapse.

In a regulatory filing, Leap said it will tender to buy all voting and non-voting shares in the company and then cancel its registration on the stock exchange.
