US chicken producer Pilgrim's Pride Corp. today (2 March) announced the appointment of Jerry Wilson as executive vice president of sales and marketing.
The appointment is subject to approval of the United States Bankruptcy Court for the Northern District of Texas. However, Wilson will join the company immediately on an interim basis.
Wilson previously served nine years as vice president of sales and marketing for Keystone Farms, a privately-owned poultry producer. Prior to that, he spent seven years as vice president of sales and marketing with poultry group Seaboard Farms. Wilson has also held operations, quality assurance and management positions with Simmons Foods and Sanderson Farms.
"Jerry is a proven leader with considerable experience in building a customer-focused culture," said Pilgrim's Pride president and CEO Don Jackson.
"As Pilgrim's Pride moves toward a market-driven business model, Jerry will play an integral role in making sure that we capitalise on our growth opportunities and exceed our customers' expectations."
Pilgrim's Pride filed voluntary Chapter 11 petitions at the beginning of last December. The group has since embarked on a restructuring operation designed to return it to profitability.
