Food and drug retailer Albertsons and family-managed Price Chopper will stock Safeway's O Organics and the Eating Right brands respectively, the company said today (7 May).
The O Organics products being offered at Albertsons stores range from baby food to dairy, beverages, snacks and full meal options.
Price Chopper will stock the Eating Right brand, which includes frozen entrees and breakfast options.
"Organics are rapidly moving from niche purchases to mainstream staples," said Alex Petrov, president of Lucerne Foods. "With the strong, across-the-board interest from shoppers in health and wellness options, O Organics allows mainstream grocers to easily implement a store-wide organic strategy with the broadest possible product range and the ability to meet the order volume of the largest supermarket chains."
Petrov added: "With many shoppers looking for options that combine taste and nutrition, Eating Right offers the highest quality, 'better-for-you' products in nearly every aisle of the supermarket."
"We are pleased to bring a world of new choices to our store shelves with the introduction of the O Organics brand at Albertsons LLC stores," said Bob Butler, senior vice president of marketing and merchandising at Albertsons LLC. "Our shoppers have always relied on us to meet all of their supermarket needs, and with O Organics, we've established an extremely broad organic foods selection virtually overnight. The quality, product depth and affordability of O Organics are unmatched. We are confident our customers will be able to easily incorporate organic components in their everyday grocery shopping."
Albertson's is privately owned and operates around 250 stores in Arizona, Arkansas, Colorado, Florida, Louisiana, New Mexico, and Texas.
Based in Schenectady, the Golub Corporation owns and operates 117 Price Chopper grocery stores in New York, Vermont, Connecticut, Pennsylvania, Massachusetts and New Hampshire.
