RUSSIA: Scientists develop beetle resistant potatoes
Scientists at Russia's Centre of Bioengineering have developed three beetle-resistant potatoes from commonly grown varieties. Genetically engineered Lugovsky, Nevsky and Yelizaveta potatoes have been made toxic to the Colorado beetle. Approval of the new varieties for world markets may take up to three years.
