Spencers Retail, India's oldest organised retailer, has signed up a leading Coca-Cola executive as the company's new CEO.

Vineet Kapila, president of Coke's operations in south-west Asia, will take the helm at Spencer next month.

The position of CEO at Spencer has been vacant for a year following the exit of Jitu Mehta.

Sumantra Banerjee, president and CEO of RPG Retail, the retail arm of Spencer parent RPG Group was responsible for the company in the absense of a full-time CEO.

Kapila, a former executive at PepsiCo's Frito-Lay unit, has been leading Coke's businesses in Bangladesh, Nepal, Sri Lanka, Bhutan and Maldives.
