USA: StoreAlliance.com Launches New Food Industry Portal, Adds Value to Grocery-focused ASP Offering
According to webmaster and editorial director Bob Wieland, the launch of the new electronic publication extends the global ASP initiative of its parent company, Point of Sale, Ltd. (Nasdaq:POSI), which is delivering industry news and application services to Israeli retail audiences through a sister portal http://storealliance.co.il.
"As with our sister site in Israel," said Wieland, "the overall mission of the StoreAlliance.com portal is two-fold: It provides the grocery industry with useful, timely, accurate information that relates to the needs and interests of retailers, wholesalers and manufacturers. And, once the online application software is live, it will provide StoreAlliance.com ASP subscribers with a direct route to both industry and proprietary information with the click of a mouse."
StoreAlliance.com and its sister portal have recruited an editorial staff that has over six decades, collectively, of experience in professional journalism. This includes Wieland, a 35-year veteran journalist, who has spent over 25 years with the Associated Press and has managed news content for over 37 trade-based websites prior to joining StoreAlliance.com.
According to Wieland, the US-based portal provides not only in-depth daily news coverage from its writers but also offers access to leading sources of industry press releases and stock transaction information including Business Wire and -- coming soon to the site -- CNET Investor. In doing so, the portal delivers a constant stream of details on supermarkets, grocery stores, and on food and beverage manufacturers, distributors, brokers and retailers.
"From an editorial standpoint," he said "I hope our site visitors think of us as a daily newspaper for the retail food industry. We have seasoned journalists on staff reporting breaking news, analyzing trends and events, and providing thought-provoking and entertaining features focused on the specifics of operating and competing in today's challenging retail arena."
According to StoreAlliance.com vice president and general manager Dror Ben-David, the portal offering differentiates StoreAlliance.com from many of today's pure play Application Service Providers:
"Recent supermarket industry trends have continued to put pressure on the smaller chains and independent retailers as they strive to compete in a very complex and competitive industry," he said. "We believe that cost-effective, ASP offerings can help the small chain sector to be more competitive. And we're unique in our approach to that, because we now provide a front-end, information portal to our online data management applications. So, whether our site visitors are coming to StoreAlliance.com for complimentary food industry news or to log on to the software applications we offer, they will see something fresh appearing here daily."
StoreAlliance.com, an operating division of Point of Sale, Ltd. in Israel (Nasdaq:POSI), was founded to provide centrally managed application software services and Internet-based news and information to the grocery industry. Headquartered in Irving, Texas, the Application Service Provider (ASP) operates a centrally located server facility for its visitors and subscribers and houses a team of industry journalists who deliver daily news stories through its Internet portal.
StoreAlliance.com's online suite of applications is the latest evolution in Point of Sale's proven, 18-year history with enterprise retail technologies. These new online software applications and services can provide retailers with browser-based tools that collect, store, process and report scan-based data.
Through both its ASP offering and its front-end portal, StoreAlliance.com is dedicated to helping food retailers and wholesalers compete more effectively in today's demanding retail arena through simplifying some of the retail IT complexities they face with operational and marketing/merchandising systems in their stores and headquarters.
