CZECH: Tesco makes personnel changes
By Lubomír Sedlák | 3 July 2012
Tesco has announced plans to make some substantial personnel changes at its Czech Republic operations.
Before the end of its current financial year, the retailer will open around 900 job positions at its new stores but around the same number of the chain's posts held by managers and specialists at its headquarters as well as in the respective retail outlets will be changed, merged or totally cancelled.
Tesco's personnel director for Central Europe Karel Foltyn said employees affected by the changes will be offered one of the new jobs.
A spokesperson, however, said managers may not necessarily move from offices to stores.
The UK retailer employs around 15,000 staff in the Czech Republic. The spokesperson declined to say how many of those hold a managerial or specialist position, arguing such data was confidential.
