US: Tyson names new group vice president

A new group vice president of consumer products was today (7 January) announced at US-based food giant Tyson Foods.

Long-time senior executive, Donnie Smith, assumes the position immediately, replacing Scott McNair, who is leaving Tyson to join The Schwan Food Co.

Smith began his career with Tyson in poultry operations in 1980 before becoming a senior leader in the purchasing and supply chain departments.

President and CEO Dick Bond said Smith would help Tyson "continue our momentum in meeting customer and consumer needs with innovative, new products".

Tyson is the world's largest processor and marketer of chicken, beef, and pork.
