The US unit of Anglo-Dutch consumer products giant Unilever has said it is voluntarily recalling certain codes of its Lipton Asian Sides - Teriyaki Noodles.

The company said the products may contain eggs, a known allergen, which are not declared on the label.

"During a transition to using a non-egg noodle in the product, noodles with egg were inadvertently used but egg was not declared on the ingredient statement of the new label," Unilever said, adding that no illnesses related to consumption of the product have been reported to date.

The affected products were distributed in Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia, and West Virginia.

Products being recalled have UPC 41000-02802 and "Best If Used By" codes of Aug 31 05B, Sep 01 05B, Sep 02 05B, Sep 04 05B, Sep 05 05B, Sep 09 05B, Sep 11 05B, Sep 12 05B, Sep 13 05B, Sep 14 05B, Sep 15 05B, and Sep 16 05B.

Unilever said it is working with the US Food and Drug Administration in implementing the recall and has notified all affected distributors and retail customers, as well as The Food Allergy & Anaphylaxis Network which will be notifying its members.
