US: Whole Foods exec joins Organic Center board

Whole Foods Market executive Margaret Wittenberg has been appointed to the board of US organic research body The Organic Center.

Wittenberg, global vice president for quality standards and public affairs at Whole Foods, joins the Colorado-based body on a three-year contract.

Wittenberg has been appointed alongside fellow new members Sara Snow, organic, healthy living and environmental TV host; Environmental Working Group president Ken Cook and Timothy Escamilla, VP of procurement and supply chain for Ready Pac.

Whole Foods co-president and chief operations officer Walter Robb steps down from The Organic Center board but will remain as an advisory director to the body.

The Organic Center is a non-profit organisation that advances peer-reviewed scientific research and information behind the health and environmental benefits of organic food and farming.
