US: Wrigley leaves chairman post

William Wrigley Jr stepped down from his position as chairman of gum giant Wm Wrigley Co. at the start of January, 15 months after the company was acquired by Mars Inc, the US group has confirmed.

Wrigley Jr had stayed on as chairman of the group after it was transformed into a subsidiary of chocolate maker Mars.

The business, which until its sale was controlled by the founding Wrigley family, currently has no plans to appoint a new chairman, a spokesperson revealed.
