Europe seeing hiring boom in food industry data analytics roles

GlobalData has studied where manufacturers in the food industry are hiring for jobs related to data analytics.

Europe was the fastest-growing region for data analytics hiring among food industry companies in the three months ending November.

The number of roles in Europe made up 22.7% of total data analytics jobs – up from 12.7% in the same quarter of 2020.

That was followed by Asia-Pacific, which saw a 4.7 percentage point change in data analytics roles.

The figures are compiled by GlobalData, which tracks the number of new job postings from key companies in various sectors over time. Using textual analysis, these job advertisements are then classified thematically.

GlobalData’s thematic approach to sector activity seeks to group key company information by topic to see which businesses are best placed to weather the disruptions coming to their industries.

The research is designed to show which companies are leading the way on specific issues as well as where the market is expanding and contracting.

Which countries are seeing the most growth for data analytics roles in the food industry?

The fastest-growing country was the UK. In the three months ending November 2020, the country accounted for 3% of all job ads in the food industry related to data analytics. In the corresponding period of 2021, that proportion rose to 8.9%.

That was followed by India (up 4.3 percentage points), Germany (up 2.1), and France (up 1.8).

Overall, the top country for data analytics roles in the food industry is the US, which made up 38.9% of all positions in the three months ending November.

Which cities are the biggest hubs for data analytics workers in the food industry?

Some 3.4% of all food industry data analytics roles were advertised in Bengaluru in India in the three months ending November – more than any other city.

That was followed by Chicago with 3.4%, Plano in Texas with 2.2% and Berlin with 2.1%.
