"With European Parliament showing approval of health and nutrition claims on food regulation last month, the EU has taken an important step forward in setting the legal framework for the food industry in Europe. The once-feared REACH chemical directive is no longer much of a threat to food manufacturers. But the relative peace on the legislative front may only last for a year or so until the European Commission comes up with new food labelling proposals that could well signal a tough crackdown on health grounds.
