2 Sisters Food Group has confirmed it is in talks to acquire ethnic food maker S&A Foods' manufacturing plant in the English town of Derby.

News surfaced in local media reports today (30 November) 2 Sisters was interested in the site. S&A Foods fell into administration last month. It said the loss of a contract to supply Asda was the "root cause" of the move.

A spokesperson for 2 Sisters told just-food today: "2 Sisters Food Group can confirm it is the lead interested party in the potential purchase of the former S&A Foods site at Sir Francis Ley Industrial Estate, Shaftsbury Street South, Derby".

However, 2 Sisters would not expand on the plans it had for the site: "2 Sisters is currently undertaking the necessary due process in relation to this sale and will provide an update once the purchase is complete."
