UK-based 2 Sisters Food Group is in talks with staff at its Nottingham unit, The Pizza Factory, after losing a contract from Aldi – the second agreement with a major retailer to come an end in the last five months.

A 2 Sisters spokesperson told just-food: “After a strategic review, Aldi has announced plans to move future business. We’re in dialogue with colleagues but it would be too early at this stage to speculate on the outcome.”

The announcement comes after Tesco announced last August it was ending an own-label contract with The Pizza Factory. That contract formally ends this month.

The Unite union has said previously up to 325 production staff could see their jobs cut as a result of losing the Tesco contract. The plant employs 1,150 workers.

Talks between 2 Sisters and staff over the future of jobs at the site in the wake of the Tesco announcement started on 12 August. 2 Sisters declined to discuss the potential impact of the loss of that contract on the business.
